Technology and the Rest
Technology and invention has been stunted due to the prevalence of magic in the realm.
Technology
Clockwork - Plenty of clockwork. Clocks themselves, musicial devices, and uncomplicated mechanisms are normal.
Steam - Steam is used rarely, and is more expensive. This includes heating water, mainly. Localized, portable uses of steam are infrequent enough to be considered a rarity.
Gunpowder - Gunpowder exists, but again, it is a rarity. More often than not, it is found in cannons, or in the strange explosive pretties of the far east that light up the sky.
Electriity - There is none, I'm afraid.
Weapons and Armanents
Typical weapons include - Most forms of bladed, blunted, or piercing weapons. Lightsabers, motorized chainsaws and such do not, even by magical means.
Boom! - Guns and the like do not exist, besides cannons. Most people consider the notion of such to be unwieldy, when they take into account how long a cannon takes to reload, and how close a warrior, archer or mage could get in that time.
Armor - This is a difficult one. Plate armor, Chainmail, Ringmail, etc all exist. Kevlar does not. Magical armor would be a rarity. Let's keep the Mithril and such down to a small level, shall we? We aren't all tanks.
Medicine
Basics - Most medicine is either herb and chemical based, or magical.
Major operations, such as transplants, are unheard of.
Transfusions are known of, but are not so common.
Anesthesia - People are usually given chemicals and/or hazardous ingredients to induce an anesthetic effect. Some do not come out of it.
Damage - Broken bones, fractures, and internal injuries are usually able to be treated, but take time and energy. Often, these injuries are treated via magical means.
Misc - Rudimentary poultices and supplements are sold by legitimate healers and snake oil merchants alike. Birth control is givne in the form of sheepskins, and, for the lady, tansy tea the morning after. Religion is not so predominant that unmarried couples having children is frowned upon to the point of isolation.
Culture
The Shows - All entertainment is live, as no recoridng devices are present. Music, plays, and improv are all alive and well. Displays of force and skill are predominant.
Communication and Travel
The normal ways - Word of mouth, letters via courier or pigeon. Long distance mail may travel via coach, or ship.
The quick and expensive - Magical devices between two or more people may be used, at a reasonable cost, to take via distance.
Travel - Horse and other mounts are the method of choice, beyond putting foot to the floor. Airships are around, but are powered by hot air, or magic, usually. Ships are generally more preferred, and less expensive.
